FMEF strives to improve the achievement
level of students in the Franklin
McKinley School District (FMSD). Limited resources
and State budget cuts will severely affect students
and families of FMSD. The District faces the daunting
challenge of sustaining quality customer service on
a diminished capacity. Larger class sizes, elimination
of arts and music programs, and teaching and support
staff reductions will pose significant risks to our
already vulnerable youth.
Our foundation recognizes the fundamental
link between appropriate education support programs
and students' academic vitality. We aim to mitigate
the consequences of the current economic crisis by sustaining
essential programs crucial to students' academic health.
Programs such as School Readiness, teacher
and staff development, after-school enrichment and recreation,
and arts, music, and sports programs are aimed to improve
the performance of all students. Continued funding will
allow FMEF to offer critical support to schools of FMSD
in these uncertain times.
Through a collaborative approach, FMEF
works jointly with teachers, administrators, youth,
parents and others to identify needs within our schools.
Our foundation seeks appropriate remedies, then coordinates,
assesses, and directs appropriate services to meet these
needs.
