The Alternative Education Collaborative (AEC) was developed to help connect out-of-school youths and their families with the resources to re-enroll into various existing and/or start-up alternative education programs. The AEC is one of five district/community projects selected for funding through a national initiative by the Youth Transition Funders Group.
The goals of the collaborative are to:
- Increase awareness about alternative education programs
- Providing educational options and improving outcomes for near drop-out and out-of-school youths.
- Increase the number of youth enrolled in alternative education programs
- Identify program capacity
- Strengthening and supporting these programs and
- Track success of programs through a follow-up support system
